Clothes on a Rack

The sight of workers pushing a rack of clothes through the streets of the garment center of New York CIty has become a part of the urban landscape.  Having no rear view mirror, the "driver" must develop anticipatory skills so that he may know when a vehicle is approaching his rear.  This is one of the images of garment workers on the job featured in an historical plaque in Union Square, NYC.

See the "Tools and Skills" plaque in our exhibit on Union Square.
